We are incredibly proud and honoured to announce that JoshyBoyLegacy CIC has been awarded Community Group of the Year 2026 at the Community Southwark Awards.
Receiving this award is both humbling and encouraging. To be recognised alongside so many inspiring individuals and organisations making a difference across Southwark reminds us of the power of community, collaboration, and collective action.
What began as a personal journey navigating life as parents of a child with complex disabilities has grown into a community-led organisation dedicated to supporting families raising children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Through advocacy, housing support, wellbeing initiatives, community events, and practical guidance, our mission has always been simple: to ensure no family feels alone in their journey.
This award belongs to so many people.
Firstly, we want to thank Community Southwark for hosting such a wonderful event and for recognising the work being carried out across our borough. We are grateful to everyone who nominated us and believed our work was worthy of this recognition.
We would also like to thank the parents and carers who have trusted us during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Thank you for allowing us to walk alongside you, advocate for your families, celebrate your victories, and support you through the difficult days. Your resilience inspires us every day.
To our volunteers, supporters, partners, and collaborators—this award is yours too. Your time, dedication, compassion, and willingness to serve have helped us reach families who needed support, guidance, and hope. Quite simply, without you, there would be no JoshyBoyLegacy.
Over the past year, we have had the privilege of supporting families through housing challenges, providing advocacy and practical advice, creating safe spaces for parents to connect, and delivering community events that bring joy to children and families who often face significant barriers. Every conversation, every workshop, every event, and every family supported reinforces why this work matters.
While we are proud of what has been achieved so far, we know there is still much more to do. This award is not the finish line—it is motivation to continue growing our impact, strengthening partnerships, and reaching even more families across Southwark and beyond.
